Root command execution via unfiltered HomeFolder parameter
Published Mar 8, 2021 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
OS command injection in Maxum Rumpus 8.2.13 and 8.2.14 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands as root. The web user account management edit form passes the unfiltered HomeFolder parameter into a command string, where quotes and backticks inject shell instructions. Administrative access to the enabled web user account management feature is required for direct exploitation; successful injection grants root-level control of the host.
