CVE-2020-2742

Hypervisor code execution via xHCI integer overflow

Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Sep 30, 2024

Integer overflow in Oracle VM VirtualBox before 5.2.36, before 6.0.16, and before 6.1.2 allows local users to execute hypervisor code. The xHCI component fails to validate guest-supplied size data before allocating a buffer, allowing an integer overflow and undersized allocation. Exploitation requires high-privileged code in a guest and escapes that guest to execute code in the hypervisor context.
