Crash and data disclosure via malformed OPC UA
Published Jan 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Heap corruption in affected Kepware-based OPC UA servers allows remote attackers to crash the runtime or disclose data via a crafted message. The OPC UA interface mishandles certain crafted requests, causing a use-after-free and out-of-bounds heap write; no finer code-level locus is public. The interface is enabled by default, and successful exploitation can interrupt data acquisition or disclose process data without altering server data.
