Navigation spoofing via misrouted address-bar keyup
Published Jan 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Open redirect in Mozilla Firefox before 84 allows remote attackers to spoof navigation by racing an address-bar or search-bar submission. The URL bar focus transition sends the Enter keyup event to the active webpage before the intended navigation, letting page script redirect first. Exploitation requires a user to enter a predictable address and submit it quickly while an attacker-controlled page is active; the result is navigation to attacker-chosen content.
