CVE-2020-2691

Hypervisor data disclosure via VMSVGA out-of-bounds read

Published Jan 15, 2020 · Updated Sep 30, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in VirtualBox Core before 5.2.36, before 6.0.16, and before 6.1.2 allows guest OS users to read host data. The shader_glsl_texbem function fails to validate user-supplied shader data before reading past an allocated object. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution in a guest; the flaw discloses sensitive host data and enables hypervisor code execution only when chained with another vulnerability.
