Unauthenticated data disclosure via external DTD resolution
Published Jun 29, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
XXE in requests-xml 0.2.3 allows remote attackers to read sensitive data through crafted XML containing an external DTD. The XML-to-JSON conversion accepts external DTD declarations without validation and resolves their entity references into converted output. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the published evidence supports data disclosure rather than code execution.
