Man-in-the-middle access via predictable AuthValue brute force
Published May 24, 2021 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Improper authentication in Bluetooth Mesh Profile 1.0 and 1.0.1 allows physically proximate attackers to recover AuthValues by brute force. The provisioning procedure permits offline searches against its random and confirmation values when the AuthValue is fixed, predictable, or low entropy. The attacker must observe or join provisioning within wireless range; recovering a reused AuthValue enables authentication to both peers and a man-in-the-middle position during a later attempt.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
