CVE-2020-26414Network attack vector

Authenticated service interruption via quadratic package-name regex

Published Jan 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Regular expression denial of service in GitLab allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service through malicious NuGet package uploads. The NuGet API applies a package-name regex whose execution time grows quadratically with malicious input length, consuming server processing capacity. A signed-in user able to upload a NuGet package can slow or deny API service; no data disclosure or modification is reported.
