Remote command execution via unescaped agent path
Published Sep 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in ssh2 before 1.4.0 allows remote attackers to execute commands when a Windows client accepts an untrusted agent path. In lib/agent.js, the Cygwin-agent fallback inserts sockPath into a quoted cygpath command passed to child_process.exec without escaping shell metacharacters. Exploitation requires a consuming client to pass attacker-controlled input as the agent socket path, granting command execution with that client's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
