Remote code execution via unsafe layout actions
Published Jan 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OpenMage LTS before 19.4.10 and 20.0.0 through 20.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through product layout XML. Mage_Core_Model_Layout::_generateAction invokes block methods named by layout XML without rejecting dangerous Template::fetchView and Topmenu::render actions. Exploitation requires an administrator permitted to update product data, enabling an uploaded executable file to run with the web application’s privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
