CVE-2020-26199

Credential theft via plaintext passwords in log files

Published Jan 5, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Plaintext password storage in Dell EMC Unity, Unity XT, and UnityVSA before 5.0.4.0.5.012 allows local users to obtain credentials. The operating environment writes user passwords, including a Unisphere administrator password, unencrypted into multiple log files. A local authenticated user who can read those logs can reuse a disclosed password to assume the compromised account's privileges.
