Cryptographic compromise via exposed entropy resource
Published Feb 9, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Incorrect permissions in Dell Technologies PowerScale OneFS 8.1.2 and 8.2.2 allow local users to compromise cryptographic operations. The /entropy resource is assigned permissions broader than required, exposing a critical cryptographic resource to eligible non-admin accounts. Exploitation requires console or SSH login privileges, which no non-admin user or role receives by default.
