Precise location disclosure via overbroad profile API
Published Jun 5, 2026 · Updated Jun 5, 2026
Information disclosure in HelloTalk for Android 3.4.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to obtain users' precise GPS coordinates. The profile API returns full-precision latitude and longitude regardless of the profile owner's selected display granularity, and the Android client caches the values in the userbase table of an unencrypted htbackup SQLite database. An attacker must view a target's profile and read the database from the attacker's own device; the coordinates can identify a residence even when the profile shows only a country or city.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
