Authenticated arbitrary file deletion via path traversal
Published Oct 29, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in RKCMS master allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary files through the attachment endpoint. The attachment deletion handler in AttachmentController.php passes an unfiltered filename containing ../ segments to the filesystem deletion operation. Exploitation requires an application login and a crafted attachment-deletion request; the demonstrated impact is deletion of a chosen file.
