Stored script execution via unencoded page titles
Published Jul 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in BlackCat CMS 1.3.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary script in administrators' browsers via a page title. The Add Page workflow stores the Title value and renders it without HTML entity encoding, so an event-handler payload executes when the page is viewed. An attacker must sign in to the Admin panel and submit a page; execution requires another user to view the stored title and is limited to that viewer's browser context.
