Domain compromise via incorrect AD attribute checks
Published Feb 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Samba AD DC before 4.13.14, 4.14.10, or 4.15.2 allows remote authenticated users to compromise the domain. Per-attribute and schema checks fail to protect sensitive msDS-AllowedToDelegateTo and sidHistory values and fail to enforce UPN and SPN uniqueness. A domain user able to create or modify user or computer objects can impersonate accounts or services and achieve total domain compromise.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=samba 4.15.2, samba 4.14.10, samba 4.13.14

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
