CVE-2020-25719Network attack vector

Domain compromise via Kerberos PAC omission

Published Feb 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper authentication in Samba allows remote authenticated users to impersonate privileged Active Directory accounts. The Active Directory domain controller accepts Kerberos tickets without a PAC and falls back from PAC SIDs to the ticket's name, so an account rename can make the ticket resolve as another user. Exploitation requires delegated rights to create or rename user or machine accounts and grants control of the domain.
