CVE-2020-25680Network attack vector

Backend impersonation via skipped certificate hostname validation

Published Jan 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper certificate validation in JBoss Core Services Apache HTTP Server 2.4.37 SP3 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate a TLS backend. When a backend worker certificate has a keystore identifier of "unknown," the CN-to-hostname comparison stops and the proxy connection proceeds. Low-privileged network access is required; successful exploitation exposes or alters data carried through the affected proxy connection.
