Unauthenticated PHP code execution via captcha file inclusion
Published Jun 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Local file inclusion in Monstra CMS 3.0.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute PHP code through the CAPTCHA endpoint. The plugins/captcha/crypt/cryptographp.inc.php script copies the cfg query parameter into the session configfile value and passes it directly to include(). No authentication or user interaction is required; exploitation requires a PHP-containing local file, such as a poisoned Apache log, that the web process can read.
