Local service interruption via incomplete flow deallocation
Published Feb 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory leak in NFStream 5.2.0 allows local users to interrupt service by creating and immediately destroying an unused nfstream object. The NFStream plugin calls nDPI's ndpi_flow_free() during object destruction, but that routine fails to release every dynamically allocated member of ndpi_flow_struct. Repeated local construction and destruction of unused objects consumes process memory and can exhaust resources, while confidentiality and integrity remain unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
