CVE-2020-25243

File overwrite via project archive path traversal

Published Apr 22, 2021 · Updated Nov 19, 2024

Path traversal in Siemens LOGO! Soft Comfort before 8.4 allows local users to write outside the import directory via a crafted project file. The project-file import process fails to confine archive entry pathnames to its intended extraction directory, allowing crafted entries to escape that boundary. Attackers must cause a compromised project file to be imported; the flaw alone permits limited file modification and service interruption, while system takeover requires chaining with other vulnerabilities.
