CVE-2020-25180Network attack vector

Password disclosure via fixed-key TEA encryption

Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Hard-coded key use in Rockwell Automation ISaGRAF Runtime 4.x and 5.x allows man-in-the-middle attackers to decrypt passwords. The IXL password flow encrypts eight-byte target passwords with TEA and preset symmetric keys, allowing captured authentication data to be reversed. Network access to TCP 1131 and an intercepted user authentication exchange are required; disclosure is limited to the target password.
