Local file disclosure via silent mailto attachment
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Information disclosure in GNOME Gmail 2.5.4 allows remote attackers to read local files through a crafted mailto link. The attach parameter accepts an attacker-supplied local path and adds that file to a Gmail draft without warning; affected browser combinations also conceal the attachment. Exploitation requires the user to click the link and send the resulting message, which transmits the selected local file to the message recipient.
