Password disclosure via plaintext audit logging
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Plaintext password exposure in cms-dev CMS 1.4.rc1 allows remote authenticated users to read administrator credentials from audit logs. The add_admin function in cmscontrib/AddAdmin.py records a supplied administrator password in plaintext when cmsAddAdmin receives that password from its caller. Access to the audit logs is required, and disclosure is limited to credentials recorded during administrator creation.
