CVE-2020-24395Public exploit

Code execution via unsigned USB firmware update

Published May 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Firmware authenticity failure in homee Brain Cube v2 2.28.2 and 2.28.4 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code via USB. The /etc/init.d/05Update script unpacks the uploaded archive, copies and executes update.scr, and flashes attacker-supplied rootfs data without checking either signature. Physical USB access and a reboot are required; exploitation overwrites rootfs and can replace recovery, granting complete device control.
