Process crash via null lexical-environment dereference
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Null pointer dereference in JerryScript 2.3.0 allows local users to crash the interpreter by running crafted ECMAScript modules. During module namespace construction, ecma_module_namespace_object_add_export_if_needed passes a null lexical-environment pointer to ecma_get_lex_env_type, which dereferences object_p. The interpreter must execute the crafted import and export module set, and the demonstrated consequence is a segmentation fault that interrupts the process.
