Camera and microphone access via library injection
Published Jan 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Library injection in Microsoft Skype 8.59.0.77 and earlier on macOS allows local users to access the microphone and camera without prompts. The Skype app disables library validation while a user-writable Electron Framework symlink determines which shared library its hardened runtime loads. A local process with the user's privileges can redirect that symlink to a crafted proxy library and inherit Skype's previously approved device access.
