Process crash via unchecked audio-format property
Published Apr 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in GPAC through 20200801 allows local users to crash MP4Box by processing a crafted multimedia file. In nhmldump_send_header in src/filters/write_nhml.c, gf_filter_pid_get_property can return NULL for a missing audio-format property, but the code dereferences p->value.uint without checking p. Execution requires a user to process the supplied file; the demonstrated consequence is a segmentation fault that terminates MP4Box.
