Editor crash via tainted TGA memory index
Published Nov 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Buffer overflow in WildBit Viewer 6.6 allows attackers to crash the Editor process by opening a crafted TGA image file. The TGA parser reaches Editor!TMethodImplementationIntercept+0x528a3 and indexes memory using two tainted register values, causing a read access violation. Opening the file is required, and the documented consequence is an application crash without reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
