Editor crash via crafted TGA out-of-bounds write
Published Nov 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in WildBit Viewer 6.6 allows attackers to crash the Editor process via a crafted TGA image. The Editor TGA parsing path calculates an invalid destination from image-controlled values and writes a DWORD at Editor+0x5d15, raising a user-mode access violation. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted image; the documented consequence is termination of the Editor process, not a system-wide outage.
