Application crash via invalid TGA memory write
Published Nov 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in WildBit Viewer 6.6 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the application via a crafted TGA file. During TGA processing, Editor+0x5f91 performs a locked compare-and-exchange byte write through invalid address 0xf0f0f0f0, causing a user-mode access violation. Opening the file is required, and the documented consequence is an application crash rather than data disclosure or modification.
