Application crash via invalid TIFF address write
Published Nov 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in WildBit Viewer 6.6 allows attackers to crash the image editor through a crafted TIFF file. During TIFF processing, the Editor executable at offset 0x76af executes a qword integer-store instruction using an invalid computed address, causing a write access violation. A user must open the malicious image, and the demonstrated consequence is termination of the affected application rather than a system-wide service interruption.
