Browser script execution via unsanitized tree values
Published Jan 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in jsoneditor before 9.0.2 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through crafted tree-mode JSON. The tree-mode enum dropdown inserts untrusted JSON values into browser-rendered markup without neutralizing executable HTML. Execution requires a user to open the stored document and interact with its dropdown, exposing data and actions available to that browser session.
