CVE-2020-23804Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Utility crash via uncontrolled PDF recursion

Published Aug 22, 2023 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Uncontrolled recursion in Poppler 0.89.0 pdfinfo and pdftops allows remote attackers to crash either utility with a crafted PDF file. The upstream report does not publicly identify the recursive function or malformed PDF structure that causes unbounded call-stack growth. Processing an attacker-supplied PDF requires no authentication or user interaction and terminates the invoked conversion or inspection process.
