Administrator code execution via unvalidated backup contents
Published May 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Bludit 3.12.0 allows remote authenticated users with administrator rights to execute PHP on the server. The Backup plugin's uploadBackup method validates the ZIP type, suffix, and directory names but does not inspect embedded file types, allowing a PHP payload to enter the uploads path. Administrator access and an enabled Backup plugin are required; the planted PHP file provides server-side code execution.
