Stored XSS via unneutralized menu link names
Published Jul 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in the Menu Links feature of LavaLite CMS 5.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in a viewer's browser. The menu editor saves a crafted Name value containing an HTML event handler and renders it in the preview without effective neutralization, causing the handler to run. Administrative access is required to edit a menu link, and a user must view the affected preview; execution is confined to the vulnerable site's browser context.
