Unauthenticated system command execution via PingTest injection
Published Nov 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 25, 2025
Command injection in OPTILINK OP-XT71000N firmware 3.3.1-191028 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary system commands. The /diag_ping_admin.asp PingTest handler passes an attacker-supplied IP-address value containing a pipe separator to a system command without neutralizing shell metacharacters. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful injection grants control of the embedded system rather than only interrupting its service.
