CVE-2020-23567Public exploit

Denial of service via JPEG2000 divide by zero

Published Nov 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Divide-by-zero vulnerability in JPEG2000 handling in IrfanView 4.53 allows attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted JPEG 2000 file. The JPEG2000!ShowPlugInSaveOptions_W routine divides a value by a zero denominator when processing malformed input, triggering an arithmetic fault. Exploitation requires a local user to open the crafted file; the documented consequence is an application service interruption without confidentiality or integrity impact.
