Local privilege escalation via uuid.dll search hijacking
Published Mar 4, 2025 · Updated Mar 26, 2025
DLL search-order hijacking in Wondershare Filmora 9.2.11 allows local users to execute code with elevated privileges through uuid.dll. Filmora.exe searches for the missing uuid.dll in the user-writable WindowsApps directory and loads an attacker-planted library from that path. A local low-privileged user must place the DLL before Filmora launches; the payload then runs in Filmora's elevated process context.
