Process crash via invalid assignment lookahead
Published Jun 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reachable assertion in JerryScript 2.2.0 allows context-dependent attackers to crash an embedding process with crafted JavaScript. parser_process_group_expression accepts assignment syntax after a nonassignable parenthesized call result, corrupting stack-depth accounting until parser_emit_cbc_backward_branch aborts on its assertion. An application must parse attacker-controlled JavaScript in an assertion-enabled 2.2.0 build; successful triggering terminates that process without reported data disclosure or modification.
