Interpreter crash via malformed destructured parameter
Published Jun 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reachable assertion in JerryScript 2.2.0 allows attackers to crash the interpreter by parsing a crafted JavaScript function. The scanner_literal_is_created function in js-scanner-util.c aborts when a malformed destructured parameter violates its scope-stack invariant. The published reproducer uses an assertion-enabled debug build, and exposure requires an embedding application to parse attacker-controlled source.
