Unauthenticated username enumeration via distinct login responses
Published Jul 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information disclosure in MV mConnect 02.001.00 allows remote attackers to enumerate valid database users through the login page. The login handler returns “invalid password” for an existing username and “invalid user” for an unknown one, creating a response oracle. No authentication or user interaction is required, and disclosure is limited to valid usernames that can support subsequent password guessing.
