Stored XSS via crafted Web user name
Published Jul 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in NavigateCMS 2.9 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in an administrator's browser via a Tools name field. The Tools Web users Create/Edit workflow stores the Personal name value without neutralizing HTML event-handler markup and renders it when the site is loaded. Administrative access is required to store the payload, and execution requires another user to load the affected page; the documented consequence is script execution in that user's browser session.
