Stored script execution via event-handler filter bypass
Published Jul 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in LavaLite CMS 5.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript when a victim previews a Menu Block. The Menu Blocks Name field stores a crafted details element, allowing its ontoggle handler to survive input filtering and run during preview. Administrative access is required to save the payload, and a victim must preview the affected block; browser-context execution enables data access and actions within the victim's session.
