Remote code execution via unfiltered table prefix
Published Aug 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Code injection in EmpireCMS 7.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code through the web-based installation workflow. SetDb passes the posted mydbtbpre table prefix to RepEcmsConfig, which substitutes it into e/config/config.php without filtering PHP syntax. The installation endpoint must remain reachable and the configuration file writable; successful injection executes in the web server's PHP context.
