Unauthenticated compiler crash via missing expression node
Published Jul 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Type confusion in the Moddable XS JavaScript parser before OS200831 allows remote attackers to crash the compiler with crafted code. When an empty array subscript appears in an assignment, fxParserTree leaves no expression node, and later code treats that missing node as a temporary function node. Unauthenticated submission of JavaScript for compilation is required, and successful exploitation interrupts the affected XS compiler process without reported data access or modification.
