Authenticated code execution via trailing-dot thumbnail upload
Published May 8, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in MingSoft MCMS 5.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via a crafted thumbnail. The article editor's thumbnail upload accepts a trailing-dot JSP filename that Windows normalizes, while uploadPath accepts ../ sequences that place the file in a web-accessible directory. Article-editing access is required; requesting the uploaded JSP then executes attacker-controlled server-side code.
