Root command execution via unvalidated PPTP server name
Published Oct 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in Mercury Router MER1200 and MER1200G 1.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute commands through PPTP server requests. The add_server_service function interpolates the request-supplied server value into /lib/pptp/add-service.sh without validation. No authentication or user interaction is required, and injected commands run with root privileges.
