Unauthorized firmware installation via signature substitution
Published Jan 20, 2023 · Updated Apr 3, 2025
Improper signature verification in affected RUCKUS AP and WLAN controller firmware allows remote attackers to install unauthorized images. The image-upgrade path accepts a substituted image signature instead of reliably validating that the submitted firmware bears an authorized vendor signature. No authentication or user interaction is required; public evidence establishes unauthorized firmware installation and integrity loss, but not code execution.
