Unauthorized firmware execution via ignored MD5 failure
Published Jan 20, 2023 · Updated Apr 3, 2025
Firmware integrity bypass in multiple RUCKUS access points and controllers allows remote attackers to execute unauthorized firmware images. The firmware image upgrade validation path accepts and boots an image after its MD5 check reports a mismatch instead of rejecting it. Network access is sufficient and no authentication or user interaction is required, enabling replacement of trusted device firmware and complete device control.
